Our Adventures in Amethyst !!!

Amethyst – Wild Garden Café - is situated in the heart of Chennai – in Royapettah. A walk through the entrance of the café and you feel you have entered a highly dense forest. Walk for about a minute and you would notice the café nestled right in the middle of the green nest. The café has about 2 seating areas – 1 outside and the other one inside. The one outside is again split into 2 parts – one within the café premises and the other one amongst the bushes. One look at the café and you would never regret visiting this green nest. It is surrounded by different types of plants. Walk around the café and you will realize it is filled with waterbodies too. You will also come across kennels and catteries for dogs, puppies and cats that are grown there. On the 1 st floor of the café is nestled a highly premium boutique – Amrapali. On the ground floor, there is a flower shop apart from the café, a dessert corner and another small corner stored with books – you can buy these if inter...

Solo Trip to Andamans for Scuba Diving Certification DIVING!!! I know a lot of Indians have a fascination for this sport after the movie – Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – had become a rage wherein they had featured various activities to satisfy one’s adventurous appetite! But for me, it was not the movie. It was the fact that someone I know had done it and had adored the experience. It was my boss. He had gotten himself certified in scuba diving in Kho Tao in Thailand. He was in high spirits whenever he discussed about his experience with us. That got me going. I wanted to go on this trip with a couple of friends to Bali or Thailand. But, since I was getting ditched from all angles, I thought of doing it on my own and restricted myself to destinations within India. I must have asked atleast 5 to 6 of my friends. But since I had a break in between – due to me quitting my job and moving onto grab another one – I was lucky to have about 14 full days to myself which none of my friends ...
MAD Phase of my Life Hi, my journey with MAD started about 8 months ago with tons of excitement and a pinch of nervousness. I was excited because this was the first time I was given the opportunity to do something that I always wanted to do in the last 10 years!!! I was nervous because I had to do my best in this journey and it was not about my teaching but it was about the kids' learning. I realized that I had to teach just 5 boys and I even had a co-teacher. The question that immediately popped into my mind – Isn’t a single teacher sufficient to teach 5 kids? But the kids proved me wrong right on my 1st day as they were most notorious kids I had ever come across!!! I am highly elated that I got to teach the 5 gems of YMCA – PRATHMESH, SHUBHAM, ADESH, ROHIT and RITESH – who were mischievous and at the same time competitive against each other. Throughout the year I strived to bring out the best in these kids but I realized that they actually brought out the best in me. Th...
MY TRAVEL JOURNAL Why I should start scripting my Travel Experiences and why I fell in love with Traveling!!! It is a Sunday evening and I am just sitting in my bedroom with my laptop. I just read a couple of blogs written by a friend of mine who is a hardcore traveler. I happened to read a few more blogs written by a solo woman traveler who is connected to my friend through a blog conference. Traveling has become quite prominent these days with many youngsters realizing that they live not just to earn and save some money but also to experience varied things in life. Traveling is one such activity which provides you maximum varied experiences. I used to hate traveling as a kid due to motion sickness. This made me get switched off from the external world and I forced myself to sleep rather than get immersed in the beauty that the nature had to offer me. I still have this problem (especially while traveling to hillstations or while traveling by a car) but sometimes, I forget i...

My Ideal Job

My Ideal Job An ideal job for many is the next level. It’s a never ending quest for continuous up gradation in all spheres. There is always more to achieve. An ideal job, for many, is their ultimate ambition. Not penultimate, but ultimate. Hardly does life take one according to his or her plans. In fact, sixty years or more of life would have been quite dull and monotonous if it were to be predictable. That whimsical and unpredictable nature of life, often forces one to keep altering his so called ‘ideal job.’ Nevertheless, all my thoughts are valid only at the time being. That is the disclaimer that I make, and I hold my right to change my thoughts on my ‘ideal job’ at my whim or at least at the next time I start day dreaming. I believe that an individual’s ideal job is one which he would like to do without thinking of it as one’s his fate. He should have a hunger for that job. He should take up that job himself without accepting what his destiny offers him. An ...

College Campus

Like everyone, even my college life is a special chapter of my life. Its been 2 yrs since I passed out of my college - passed out in April 21st 2007 - but the memories are still fresh. Like most of the 12th std. students, I did not know why I was opting for Engineering. But I did and chose Electronics and Communication - ECE in short. The first week of my college life was really bitter with not many friends and feeling lonely. There was a point of time, when I also wanted to go back to my hometown and do Engg from a college near my home. But that was not possible. Well, I did my Engg. from Amrita School of Engg., Ettimadai (near Coimbatore). Its a well known college. After a few weeks I got settled and got adjusted to the place. In this blog, I would like to talk about the campus from where I passed out. The campus was simply superb. One of the best campuses in India I must say. Especially the long road from the AIMS canteen till the entrance with those yellow flowers covering half of...
